Ernest & Dominique 

Their Story (in their own versions)

 

Our story begins on a series of days; we met at a mutual friend’s birthday weekend celebration. Strangely enough, on the first night, neither of us was on each other’s radar...

 

Dominique: “Ernest sat directly across from me at the Macaroni Grill that night. He ordered his dinner and ate before everyone, even before the birthday girl arrived! Then, he pulled out his “red” phone and started playing music as he was eating by himself (still…no one had ordered). I remember leaning over and saying to a friend “who is this guy?”

 

Ernest: “I remember being hungry as heck and from experience, I knew this mutual friend would be “fashionably late”. So, I ordered.”

 

The next night, the birthday celebration continued and the same group of friends went to downtown Orlando.....

 

Dominique: “It was a fun night…everybody was laughing, dancing, and enjoying each other’s company. I danced with Ernest a few times and I may have started to think he was cute. I don’t remember seeing Ernest as we were leaving downtown but was secretly hoping I did.”

 

Ernest: “The next night we all went out as a group. I remember dancing with Dominique for quite a few songs and thinking she smelled good. Then, I remember feeling a peck on the neck (I’m sure she was aiming for the cheek but couldn’t reach!) and me thinking…whhhaaatttt!!! At the end of the night, we all went back to our friend’s house and our mutual friend then encouraged me to get Dominique’s number. Now, this almost didn’t happen because her friends had much of her attention. Somehow, I managed to muster up the courage to get her number, so that I could talk to her later.”

 

Dominique: “I will FOREVER disagree with some of Ernest’s “version”!! But, at the end of the night I was surprised and happy to see him at our friend’s house and was glad when he asked me for my number. Although, I was nervous to give him my number, I now realize it was one of the best decisions I have ever made!”

 

Over the years we have grown to love each other, respect each other, accept each other, and be each other’s best friend. We are so grateful and thank God for the birthday weekend that brought us together…no matter whose “version” is being told.
